Toshiba (News - Alert) America Information Systems Telecommunication Systems Division or “Toshiba” and SoTel Systems have announced the certification of interoperability of SoTel SIP Trunking services with Toshiba's family of Strata CIX IP business communication systems.
“With this certification, SoTel SIP Trunking services are now available to Toshiba Strata CIX customers nationwide via Authorized Toshiba Dealers,” said Shahin Hatamian, vice president of product management for Toshiba America Information Systems Telecommunication Systems Division, in a statement.
SoTel is an Internet Telephony Services Provider or “ITSP” offering Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) or “SIP” service products to replace traditional Time Division Multiplexing or “TDD” local and long-distance services.
The company, which has been in business for nearly 30 years, offers traditional refurbished and unused voice and data equipment, does authorized distribution of VoIP equipment, and provides commercial SIP services for both inbound and outbound traffic.
In November last year TMCnet reported that SoTel selected the HiPath OpenOffice ME or “HOOME” from Siemens Communications to replace its aging TDM-based Nortel (News - Alert) system, which had reached the end of its lifespan.
HOOME not only provides SoTel with a complete VoIP-based platform, but it also directly connects to the SoTel network. And the features of the system itself are advantageous to the way SoTel does business, according to company officials.
Important offerings from SoTel include Opti-Max IP. unlimited local and long distance services over SIP trunks; Opti-Plus IP, free in-bound calls and measured service for outbound calls over SIP trunks; Opti-Flex IP, measured service for all calls over SIP trunks; Opti-Link IP, a convenient and flexible collaboration IP conference calling solution; and SIPCore, hosting application that delivers high-performance SIP call routing.
“We are pleased to offer SoTel SIP Trunking services to Toshiba Strata CIX customers,” Michael S. Sawyer, vice president of Technology Services for SoTel Systems (News - Alert), said in a statement. “Combined with Toshiba's reliable Strata CIX IP business telephone systems, SoTel SIP Trunking gives enterprises a cost-effective and reliable alternative to traditional land lines.”
