Qualcomm to Support Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Series

Qualcomm (News - Alert) Inc., a developer and innovator of wireless technologies, products and services, has announced that it is the first chipset company that will support commercial launches of phones based on Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Phone (News - Alert) 7 Series with the help of its integrated chipset solutions and system software.
Additionally, Qualcomm Incorporate is a pioneer in developing and delivering advanced digital wireless communications products and services based on CDMA and other advanced technologies.
The company is also working with Microsoft (News - Alert) and other multiple device manufacturers on Smartphones powered their Snapdragon platforms and running Windows Phone 7 Series software which is scheduled to commence launching by the 2010 holiday season. Snapdragon chipsets integrate high-performance, custom CPUs with 3G and powerful multimedia capabilities into a single chip.
The latest version of Windows Phone software is set apart with its smart design and delivery of highly integrated experiences. Putting together all the capabilities of Windows Phone 7 Series software and Qualcomm's best in the industry chipset solutions will give rise to a new generation of devices that will redefine the potential of mobile experiences.
According to Andy Lee, senior vice president, the Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Series software offers a totally new approach that merges Web applications and content and offers new services like Zune and Xbox LIVE to the phone which is the first of its kind. Lee also states that Microsoft has worked closely with Qualcomm on the Windows Phone 7 Series software and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets are an important component in giving life to the unique set of integrated experiences on the Windows Phone. It also helps to conserve the battery life and also provides always –on connectivity.
Steve Mollenkopf, executive vice president of Qualcomm and president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies said that they were very eager about the next generation of devices that will influence the best features of Qualcomm’s highly integrated system on chip solutions and Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 Series software.
Mollenkopf also added that Qualcomm had a long history of working together with Microsoft on Windows Phone, and that they were continuing this team effort by supporting Microsoft’s launches this year of the new Windows Phone 7 Series devices based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets.
