While attending the ITEXPO East in Miami from Jan. 20-22, as a TMC (News - Alert) Web Editor, I had the lucky job of sitting down with leading executives from top companies in the telecom industry to discuss various trends in their business, as well as how the show was going for them, and what to expect in the upcoming year.

 

I sat down – on two separate occasions – with AudioCodes (News - Alert) Director of Market Development, Alan Percy, to discuss various industry trends.

 

In the first interview, Percy talked about the shift in the business model AudioCodes has recently been seeing and experiencing.

 

“One of the things we picked up on this last couple of years is that a number of resellers have been challenged with integrating VoIP and IP telephony solutions together, mostly because of the complexity of the different components,” Percy said, adding that the company – after watching these resellers struggle – AudioCodes has put together a program to help simplify the process in efforts to expand the market.

 

In my second interview with Percy, we discussed Broadsoft’s recent release in regards to the company’s PacketSmart technology.

 

“When [Broadsoft] acquired the PacketSmart technology, they were trying to figure out a way to reduce the cost and integrate it, and make it easier for customers to deploy,” he said. “We quickly figured out that the ideal world would be to embed this technology into the access gateways to be part of a service provider solution.”

 

So, last quarter, AudioCodes integrated the PacketSmart technology to a few of the company’s gateways.

 

“As of today, we have a nice solution that embeds PacketSmart technology inside the AudioCodes gateways.”
