TANDBERG Expands HD Video Solutions Offerings, Versatility
By Brendan B. Read, Senior Contributing Editor
Videoconferencing solutions continue to improve; timely developments when organizations are seeking alternative to budget-and-productivity-sapping and increasingly uncomfortable, hassle-ridden and environment-destroying travel.
On that track TANDBERG has unveiled its expanded Profile Series product line, delivering an extended range of completely integrated high-definition, or “HD,” interoperable videoconferencing solutions. The new units are the entry-level Profile 42", the Profile 65" and the Profile 65" Dual. They join the Profile 52” powered by the Tandberg (News - Alert) Codec C60, which is ideal for team settings and meeting rooms. The Profile 52" Dual comes with an additional full screen display, which can be dedicated to multimedia sharing.
Here are the details of Tandberg’s new videoconferencing/video collaboration offerings:
- The Profile 42", powered by either the TANDBERG Codec C60 or the Codec C20plus, has been made with SMBs in mind; it can fit inside small conference rooms and team huddle areas. The completely integrated system is easy to set up and use and provides full HD resolution in point-to-point calls. For multipoint conferencing capabilities, customers can work with the company’s global partner network to implement affordable managed services
- The Profile 65", powered by the TANDBERG Codec C60, is sized for large meeting rooms and corner office for that big presence functionality
- The Profile 65" Dual is powered by what the company says is the most advanced 1080p codec on the market: the TANDBERG Codec C90. Designed for board rooms, auditoriums and specialized collaboration spaces, this system features 65" screens, giving users the option to dedicate one to multimedia sharing
- Each TANDBERG Profile Series unit is fully interoperable with any standards-based video conferencing or telepresence system as well as unified communications platforms such as Microsoft (News - Alert) Office Communicator. Each system offers 1080p HD, high-quality large screens, and an intelligent, user-friendly interface. Natural communication is also achieved through full duplex audio and a PrecisionHD(TM) 1080p camera.
- All Profile Series products come with TANDBERG's Codec technology, which enables easy sharing of presentations and multimedia. With the exception of the new Profile 42" with the C20plus, all Profile systems come with embedded multisite to allow multiple sites to connect and collaborate at the same time. The TANDBERG Profile Series also incorporates recyclable aluminum materials, keeping in line with TANDBERG's environmental sustainability goals.
The new Profile additions follow on the heels of TANDBERG’s new Telepresence (News - Alert) T1. The T1 provides the same rich experience and intuitive interface as TANDBERG Telepresence T3, only with a smaller footprint. Both solutions are meant to increase the demand for videoconferencing solutions by offering precisely-tailored offerings. They will also enhance Cisco’s (News - Alert) array of video products when its acquisition of TANDBERG is completed.
“The video conferencing market is expected to grow substantially as companies of all sizes embrace the benefits and realize the cost savings the technology enables,” Roopam Jain, Principal Analyst, Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert), said. “By providing high-quality technology in a sleek, easy to use package that can be easily customized for customers of all sizes, TANDBERG is delivering greater flexibility that will surely attract new customers and provide new opportunities for video users to expand their existing solutions.”
Jain also said that, as TANDBERG continues to innovate and deliver outstanding products like the Profile Series, its position as the leader in the market is further validated.”
“Video collaboration is proving to be a key competitive advantage in all types, and at all levels, of organizations,” Fredrik Halvorsen, TANDBERG CEO, said. “With the expanded Profile portfolio, TANDBERG is making it simple for our customers to provide high-quality video access to everyone.”
“Like all TANDBERG products, the Profile Series is standards based,” Halvorsen said, adding that this enables users to have the highest level of group collaboration by connecting with customers and co-workers on any system: from telepresence to the desktop.
“No one is locked out of the meeting and everyone experiences the best quality possible,” Halvorsen added.
