TANDBERG, BT Ink Deal for Telepresence and Video Conferencing
TMCnet Contributor
TANDBERG and BT (News - Alert) have announced they are set to deliver a global non-proprietary solution for inter-company telepresence and video conferencing.
Both companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) under which the BT One Source service uses TANDBERG’s standards-based infrastructure. This alliance allows an enterprise to collaborate internally and externally across differing video and telepresence systems.
Officials explain that this collaboration is made possible by BT’s One Source managed services and MPLS network and the expansion of BT Global Video Exchange with TANDBERG's infrastructure.
In addition, this partnership provides customers with easy to use, low cost, high performance reliability and high-definition video.
BT One Source for TANDBERG ensures interoperability from the desktop to the telepresence suite for point-to-point and multipoint calls. This gives additional freedom to both TANDBERG Telepresence T3 users and Polycom (News - Alert) TPX/RPX users as they will now be able to collaborate regardless of the platform or network.
Noting Telepresence to be all about collaboration, Aaron McCormack, CEO of BT Conferencing, said that BT One Source for TANDBERG makes telepresence easy to use, reliable and cost effective throughout a customer's enterprise.
Their company aims to help companies maximize their investment in telepresence technology. This is achieved by allowing them to collaborate both within their own business and across networks with partners, suppliers, customers and others, around the globe.
Speaking about their vision, Fredrik Halvorsen, CEO of TANDBERG, said that they are focused on connecting people visually within and between organizations, regardless of network or vendor choice.
He is confident that the visually enabled B2B supply chain will allow the companies to communicate with each other, streamline processes, be cost-efficient and bring products to market faster.
“TANDBERG was first to market with telepresence interoperability. Now this new initiative and MOU with BT further strengthens our relationship and makes the vision of seamless interoperability across different networks and devices a reality for our customers.”
