TMCnet Contributing Editor
911 Enable, a provider of E911 solutions for IP-PBX (News - Alert) systems, has announced that its Emergency Gateway appliance has received Cisco certification. Cisco has tested the Emergency Gateway for compatibility with Cisco Unified Communications (News - Alert) Manager (CUCM) version 6.1.
Now, organizations using Cisco IP telephony will be able to receive reliable E911 support for their entire workforce, including employees working from branch offices, at home and on the road.
The Emergency Gateway (News - Alert) (EGW) is an on-site appliance, through which organizations can simplify 911 management while meeting their state and local E911 regulations.
911 Enable is a Cisco (News - Alert) Technology Developer Affiliate, and its new Emergency Gateway supports CUCM versions 4.x to 6.x, all Cisco IP phones, IP softphones, and analog/digital phones.
The EGW features automatic IP phone tracking, on-site security desk notification, and extensive auditing and reporting capabilities. It can also be used to securely communicate with the 911 Enable Emergency Routing Service (ERS).
911 Enable's ERS delivers emergency calls to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) based on the caller's geographic location. The company has an infrastructure that is connected to over 4,800 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) nationwide.
Both the EGW and ERS integrate together to provide a perfect solution that is capable of supporting Cisco's most advanced unified communications features.
Lev Deich, director of 911 Enable, said that as businesses continue moving towards IP telephony, traditional 911 solutions are reaching the end of their lifecycles. The Emergency Gateway replaces complex PBX management and carrier integration typically associated with traditional 911 solutions.
Deich noted that with 911 Enable's successful Cisco certification, organizations with Cisco IP telephony deployments can now benefit from a 911 solution which reduces costs and administrative efforts.
911 Enable provides a wide E911 coverage and brings breakthrough location management technologies to the IP telephony market. It provides custom solutions for many equipment manufacturers such as Cisco, Avaya and Nortel help to ensure quick and easy integration, and has deployed its solutions in organizations of all sizes across the U.S. and Canada, including several Fortune 500 companies.
