FreedomVOICE VoIP Hosted PBX Solution to Aid Resellers Eyeing SMBs

By Michael Dinan, TMCnet Editor

Bringing what it calls a “smart, affordable” alternative to expensive PBX (News - Alert) hardware, an Encinitas, California-based provider of telephone communications solutions reportedly announced today that it’s forged a deal with a national organization.

Officials from FreedomVOICE Systems say that under the deal, members of the Technology Assurance Group in the United States and Canada can use their VoIP Hosted PBX solution, “FreedomIQ.”

According to Eric Thomas, founder and chief executive officer of FreedomVOICE, traditional PBX commission models hurt resellers eyeing the SMB market, because they can’t make a decent profit on any sale with fewer than 20 seats.

“Rather than walking away from smaller clients, FreedomIQ’s month-to-month service and recurring commissions provide an easy-to-build revenue stream,” Thomas said. “These leads are now worth pursuing.”

The company says the major advantage of FreedomIQ is that it includes a month-to-month service agreement, which will give TAG members a chance to approach clients without requiring them to sign long-term service contracts.

“Commissions for these sales are paid every month without needing to meet a sales quota,” FreedomVOICE officials say. “Members can also recruit other partners to earn tiered commissions.”

The TAG news follows a major announcement that FreedomVOICE made last month, when it introduced an application that’s designed to help iPhone (News - Alert) users transfer calls to nearby landlines, even during a call.

Officials at FreedomVOICE say Newber Beta, unveiled at a wireless telecom show in San Francisco, uses positioning technology to accomplish the feat, saving money for iPhone users, avoiding dropped calls and conserving battery power.

Thomas told TMCnet during an interview that the application is designed mostly for business users, though casual iPhone owners will benefit from the technology, as well.

“The added line functionality can greatly simplify communication for (business users) by separating private versus business calls,” Thomas told TMCnet. “Home use shares many of the same benefits as office or business use. Casual users can use Newber at home to avoid reception problems and save on minutes by taking their iPhone calls through their home phone.”

The company’s FreedomIQ offering is expected to bolster business for TAG members, who can now capture an audience that has traditionally been unable to afford a business phone system: entrepreneurs with little or no financing. FreedomIQ is expected to provide those clients with a maintenance-free enterprise phone system, and with little initial investment.

Dale Stein, co-founder of TAG, said his members are innovative and customer-focused.

“The FreedomIQ hosted VoIP solution enhances the ability of our members to fulfill the technology needs of the businesses they serve,” Stein said. “This will be a valuable partnership for everyone involved, especially the end user.”
